Why was my article rejected?
8 reasons I rejected your article
8 reasons I accepted your article
Q: Does a Poster/Abstract submission count as prior publication?
A: Posters and Abstracts are not considered prior publications. Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract, a published lecture or academic thesis, see 'Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication' for more information), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright-holder.
If you have any further questions regarding prior publication, please contact the JAAD Editorial Office.
Q: I have a pre-submission inquiry regarding the content of my article. Who can l contact?
A: We appreciate your interest in the JAAD family of journals! The journals receive over 5,000 submissions a year. As such, editors and staff are not able to respond to individual pre-submission inquiries. There are exceptions—CME, Clinical Review, Controversies, and From the Academy articles in JAAD require a proposal before submission into the JAAD submissions system. Specific instructions and proposal forms are available in in the JAAD Author Guide.
Q: When will my article be published?
A: If you have selected ‘yes’ to S5 publishing at the time of submission, the final accepted—uncopyedited and uncorrected—versions of all manuscripts are published online on the corresponding journal’s website in approximately 5 to 7 business days. At that time, your article is considered published. It will be searchable via PubMed, Google, and other search engines and will be able to be cited in other articles.
Q: Where is the proofing link for my accepted article?
A: The proofing link usually goes to the corresponding author within 2-4 weeks depending on production workload. Once the article is in this stage of production, our publisher, Elsevier, tracks that information and handles the typesetting/formatting for print.
The corresponding author is the first point of contact regarding a proofing link from the publisher. If they have not received it after 4 weeks, please email the JAAD Editorial Office with your manuscript ID and relevant information.
Q: There is an error in my accepted/published article, what do I do?
A: Once a paper has been published, any corrections must go through the publisher. Substantial changes must be approved by the editor.
To request corrections to a published article, please send an email with a detailed list of change(s) you are requesting, noting the page number in the published PDF, as well as column and line numbers where the change(s) is needed to the JAAD Editorial Office. Please provide a general explanation about why the paper needs the requested corrections. You may also mark-up the published PDF and attach it with your request. If you do so, please use the highlight/comment feature to show your change(s).
Your request will be forwarded to the editors for consideration. If the request is approved, changes will be sent to the publisher, who will create a correction notice and apply changes to the article on the live site. If your correction request is received before the article is published in a print issue, the updates will be reflected in the eventual printed article. If the article has already been printed, only the online version will be updated, but the correction notice will run in the next available printed issue. A composed page proof of the correction notice will be routed to you for approval before publication and updates are made to the article.
