Q: I am having an issue transferring my manuscript from JAAD to JAAD Case Reports.
A: If you are experiencing errors transferring your manuscript from JAAD to JAAD Case Reports or receiving a message that your account could not be linked, this is often resulting from a discrepancy in details between your JAAD and JAAD Case Reports accounts.
In order for Editorial Manager to recognize the user is the same, the account details must match. In order to check that they are the same, log into both Editorial Manager accounts and select the dropdown next to your name. Then click ‘Update My Information’ and compare the information between both accounts to ensure it matches.
Q: Can you extend my Transfer Deadline to JAAD Case Reports?
A: The editorial office is not able to extend transfer deadlines. If your deadline passes, you can submit your manuscript as a new submission and note in the over letter that the paper was offered the option to transfer from JAAD with the original JAAD Manuscript ID number.
Q: Is there a publication fee if I transfer my manuscript from JAAD to JAAD Case Reports?
A: Yes. There is a publication fee associated with accepted and published articles in JAAD Case Reports, with the exception of Letters to the Editor. JAAD Case Reports is an open-access journal. Should your manuscript be accepted for publication, you will be required to pay a publication fee that covers the cost of publication, but you retain copyright. If the corresponding author is a dues-paying member of the American Academy of Dermatology, a 25% discount will be applied to the publication fee.
Please note: all waiver requests are considered only after peer review is complete and the paper has been accepted for publication, there is no fee to submit.

Q: Do I need to include patient consent forms with my submission?
A: All Case Report submissions muse have the full patient consent statement added reading as follows: “The authors obtained written consent from patients for their photographs and medical information to be published in print and online and with the understanding that this information may be publicly available.
Recognizable patient images require that the author obtain and attest to having obtained written patient consent (or, where applicable, consent from the next of kin, parent/s or legal guardian/s) for publication. Consent forms should be retained by the author's institution(s); they should not be uploaded to Editorial Manager.
Please note: "Not applicable" is not an acceptable answer for JAAD Case Reports. All Case Report submissions must have obtained patient consent.
